What to Expect
Starting therapy is a meaningful step. Here's what working together looks like.
Reaching out
Reaching out for the first time can feel vulnerable, and I try to make that step as easy as possible. You're welcome to contact me through the form on my contact page or by email, and I'll get back to you within a few business days.
Before we begin, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can get a sense of what you're looking for and whether we might be a good fit. There's no pressure. It's simply a chance to ask questions and start the conversation.
Getting to know each other
Our first session is an opportunity to get acquainted. I'll ask about what brought you in, a bit about your history, and what you're hoping to get from therapy. There's no pressure to have everything figured out. We'll go at your pace.
This is also your chance to get a feel for me and my style. Therapy works best when there's a genuine sense of trust and connection, and I want you to feel comfortable asking questions or sharing any hesitations along the way.
Building and growing
Sessions are 50 minutes and are typically held weekly, especially early in the process. As you progress, we may shift to every other week. Together we'll set goals and revisit them regularly to make sure our work continues to feel relevant and meaningful.
Therapy isn't linear. Some weeks will feel more productive than others, and that's completely normal. I believe in meeting you wherever you are, and adjusting our approach as your needs evolve.
In-person & telehealth
I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions. Telehealth is conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform and is available to clients anywhere in California, making it a flexible option for those with busy schedules or who prefer the comfort of their own space.
Frequently Asked Questions
Don't see your question here? Feel free to reach out directly.
My session fee is $200 per session. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who need financial flexibility. Please don't hesitate to bring this up when we speak.
I can provide a monthly superbill for clients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider as an out-of-network benefit. Contact your insurance company directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health coverage before our first session.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients come in with a specific issue and find meaningful relief in a few months. Others choose to engage in deeper, longer-term work. We'll discuss your goals together and shape a plan that feels right for you, and we can revisit it at any time.
The therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of success in therapy, and fit matters. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can get a sense of my style and ask any questions before committing. If after meeting you feel I'm not the right match, I'm genuinely happy to offer referrals. The most important thing is that you find support that works for you.
I do not work with younger children, but I do work with younger and older teens. Working with adolescents is a meaningful part of my practice. I use expressive arts and therapeutic techniques to create an age-appropriate space where teens can feel seen and express what words sometimes can't. I also work closely with parents to support the whole family system.
I require 24 hours notice for cancellations, except in the case of emergencies. If a session is cancelled without adequate notice, the full session fee will be charged. However, your first cancellation is always waived.
I'm not set up to provide crisis support between sessions. If you're in immediate distress, please call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or go to your nearest emergency room.
For non-urgent questions or scheduling, you're welcome to reach me by email and I'll respond within a few business days.
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legally required exceptions, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of suspected abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult. I'll review these limits with you in our first session so you feel fully informed.
