Meghan O'Neil, LMFT
Meghan has always been curious about the human condition and the impact of compassion. Her background includes a bachelor's in psychology and social work, a master's degree in clinical counseling, and experience working as a marriage & family therapist since early 2021. When Meghan first found herself in front of a therapist, she was a teenager who was overwhelmed by familial grief. However, it wasn't until she pursued therapy as an adult, that she experienced both the beauty and challenge of the healing process herself. From an early age, Meghan has hoped to help others and has found herself privileged to do this through the therapeutic setting.
Meghan earned a master's degree in clinical counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University, where she trained with a focus on culturally competent and evidence-based approaches to therapy. As a part of the interdisciplinary team at SHARP hospital in San Diego, she gained clinical experience from a vast majority of diagnostic issues.
Meghan's approach to therapy is compassion-focused, client-centered, and trauma-informed. In work with clients, she draws from a number of modalities including Attachment, Family Systems, Narrative, Relational, Somatic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
She enjoys working with adolescents, young adults and families through anxiety, depression, life transitions/changes, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, grief and loss, identity formation, behavioral challenges, and embodiment work. Meghan believes therapy is a space for clients to come as they are openly and freely. Once you are fully seen and heard by another, you can feel safe to let go and thrive.
